Benchmarking Optimization Solvers for Energy System Models: 2025 Results

The transition to decarbonized energy systems depends on powerful optimization tools — but how well do today’s solvers perform on real-world energy system models?

In this webinar, we present the 2025 Open Energy Benchmark results, comparing four widely used open-source solvers (CBC, GLPK, HiGHS, SCIP) alongside a proprietary baseline alternative (Gurobi). Using realistic, community-contributed models and standardized settings, we provide an up-to-date and transparent assessment of solver performance and discuss key priorities for future open-source solver and proprietary development.
